It isn´t always the biggest and most posh restaurant that is best. This restaurant is an excellent example of just that.
While staying at Castell d Emporda we went to visit Peratallada, which is the most wonderful little village on the Spanish countryside. It is about an hour north of Barcelona and about the same distance south of Cadaques.
The tables and chairs are simple and rustic, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the menu is small but exciting. They have a good selection of Spanish beer and local wine.
My best tip is to tell your waiter what you like and how hungry you are and let him pick out the house specials or his own favorites.
The dishes were small but very tasty. It was a hit for the whole family, and especially the kids enjoyed both the atmosphere and the lovely food.
My favorite treats at Papibou were the baked cheese, the fried sausages and the chips.
If you are like me, and crave something sweet after a lovely meal, there is an excellent ice-cream shop just around the corner. Enjoy your dessert while walking through the old and romantic little town of Peratallada.
