If you are looking for the perfect hotel that has everything you need to feel royal and pampered for a few days, Casa de La Flora is it. Fantastic bungalow, exceptional food, great service and beautiful beach. It is also voted one of the best new hotels by Conde Nast Traveller´s Hot List 2012.
Casa de La Flora is an amazing hotel. The location is great, on the outskirts of a small town, with a beautiful beach and the design of the hotel is a dream for those of us that loves clean lines. It is a small hotel, with no more than 36 villas, all with their own private pool. This, in addition to the layout of the houses gives it a very quiet and luxurious feeling, and there is always a table in the restaurant. The pool isn´t the biggest one, but it never feels crowded, and the second you lay down on a bed or sofa, you get a cold drink, a cool towel and fresh fruit.
The beach is very nice. Not flowery white, but yellow and soft, and the sunsets are absolutely fantastic.
The hotel has a small but ok-equipped gym, a small but ok spa, and great staff. The best part of the hotel, in addition to the cool villas, is still the fantastic restaurant. It is a combination of Asian and Mediterranean kitchen, and I have to say that the Tiramisu (which was slightly frozen) is one of the best I have ever tasted! Other brilliant dishes were the rabbit, the soup, the breakfast pancakes, and the best Caesar salad I have had outside the US.
If you want to eat here every day for one week, that is totally possible without getting sick of it. But if you need some change, there are a lot of other places to go by foot or taxi. And all of the alternatives will probably be a lot cheaper. There is even an Italian pizza restaurant in the nearby town.
This is a hotel for couples and families. A relatively young crowd, and we met people from Italy, Switzerland, Canada, Japan and Lithuania.
The concierge at this hotel has the most amazing title, the Dream-maker! And for one day he made our kid´s dream come true. We went to a small zoo where we got to ride on two gigantic elephants (which was quite the work out!), shake hands with monkeys, cuddle with a boa and see a few other funny looking animals. They also offered a great lunch and the most fantastic float ride down a stream. A great day for both the kids and the parents.
The area isn´t the best for shopping. We went into the town center for one evening, and didn´t enjoy it at all… but with a hotel like that, who needs to go shopping?
