Newly renovated Hotel Norge in Bergen has the best location and view in town. The combination of Scandinavian design and Paris chick makes this design hotel a favorite when visiting one of the most beautiful cities in Norway.
Hotel Norge is one of those hotels where the inside looks nothing like the outside. While the outside doesn´t bring sparkels of joy, the inside definitly does. And the location of the hotel is just perfect. A few steps from both shopping, restaurants, bars and Bergen Brygge.
All the rooms are fresh and light, but if you are lucky and feel like spending some extra, I urge you to try one of the rooms that come with a rooftop balcony. There you´ll get to enjoy comfy sunbeds and a beautiful view of a small lake with a water fountain, parts of the city, and the mountains as a back drop. Hopefully the sun will join you. And the inside isn´t too shabby either. The bed is large and comfy, the furniture is high quality Scandinavian design, but the bathtub is still my favorite. With nothing but a large window separating it from the bedroom, you can actually gaze out on the beautiful view while enjoying a hot bath. A no brainer, if you ask me!
The reception area of the hotel is stunning. Large, velvety furniture, elements in gold and mirrors, lots of books, and glam all the way. And since the staff is kind and knowledgeable as well, it makes for the perfect welcome.
The breakfast here at Hotel Norge is one of a kind. The dining area (the restaurant) is light and spacious, with very comfortable chairs, but it was the buffet that really impressed me. Rarely have I seen such a wide specter of offers with such a level of quality. And that goes for everything from the bread to fruit via juices and various types of meat, chees and eggs. It is really great!
I also urge you to enjoy a drink or two at the Café Norge. The design here is sleek, and it really feels like you are in Paris. Café Norge is located on the ground floor, so you can be an invisible spectator to all the people on the outside, on their way to where ever they are going, and more than often with an umbrella. If you feel like eating something, their mini-burger is perhaps the best I have ever eaten. So order two straight up!
