Denmark in general
Denmark is considered by many to be the perfect summer vacation place. Especially if you are from Norway, and even more if you have kids. The number of beautiful beaches and parks are high, and the atmosphere and attitude of the Danish people are great. And they have several great shops when it comes to both Fashion and Design. Not just in the bigger cities, but spread around the country. They are also famous for their food and restaurants.
I am also a Denmark fan. But last July, I had a few disappointing moments. I came to Denmark to eat at great restaurants and shop at several different interior shops. Shops that I have read about and visited online. But for some reason they all had decided to close for the summer. This was very confusing and irritating, since I had been looking forward to this for weeks, but I have to admit that I admire the Danes ability to take the time off and spend with family and family. The Danish people have the work pace, moral and ethics of the North Americans, but they also have the ability to calm down and enjoy life like people from the warmer climate further south. The shops I didn´t get to visit was Fine Ting and La Brocante in Horsens and Leth Solgt in Randers. Restaurants I missed out on was the famous Munkebo Kro in Munkebo (Munkebo Kro will close for ever at the end of September 2012, so hurry if you want to visit them), and Pakhuset in Randers. I guess I have to come back again, and do some more research prior to the visit!
A place that WAS open, was Molskroen near Ebeltoft. We spent a few days here and ended up having the most wonderful time and having some of the most memorable meals in Denmark. Read more about it here.
Copenhagen
For those of us who love scandinavian design, both clothes and interior, this city is heaven. And then on top of that, if you love excellent food based on fresh, short travelled and ecological food, you have come to the right place. Copenhagen is the perfect city to chill, dine, shop and enjoy.
