The combination of northern traditional cooking, eastern influences, brilliant bartenders, good location and an enthusiastic restaurant manager, makes NordØst a fine place to be and eat.
Although most of the innovation in the food and restaurant industry happens in the capital of Norway, there are a lot of things going on in the outskirts of this long and beautiful county. NordØst in Trondheim is one of the places worth visiting if you are in the hood.
Their focus on combining local cooking traditions with elements for the east is one of my favorites these days. We have so many excellent produces and producers here, but Norway doesn´t have the most creative kitchen in history. NordØst succeeds in bringing out the best of both, getting the tastes, portions and combinations just right. Humoristic elements also play an important role, and the location and interior is also very good.
The excellent bartenders offer their own creations of wonderful drinks, which I highly recommend. The wine list is not the largest or most creative, but I was told that they are working on it. I hope this includes several exciting types of beer and sake too.
My favorite bites at NordØst where the scallop tacos, the crispy duck pancakes and the salmon and mango take-away box. Truly tasty treats.
