Le Caveau Des Arches is a fancy-looking restaurant with down to earth prices and heavenly food.
When you are in Beaune, France, in July, the temperature is usually quite high. Walking down the stairs to this “cave” felt quite lovely, and the feeling kept on getting better as we sat down, tried the food and enjoyed their lovely wine.
We had a table for eight, half of us were kids, but that was no problem. They even took the orders from the kids first to keep them happy. There were several things for them to choose from, and they all finished their dishes.
So did the grownups. We started with some vegetables and cured meat, and a lovely white Burgundy. I had some asparagus accompanied with one of the best hollandaise I have had in quite a while. Our mains were beef bourguignon and seared Tuna. Both fantastic. Even the desserts were perfect. The crème brûlée is highly recommended.
I really liked this place. Even if the tablecloths were white, the staff was both smiling, funny and great at their jobs. The wine selection was good and the prices not too bad. Caveau Des Arches is definitely of the best lunch places in Beaune.
