I had heard great things about this capital, and I was excited to go! It was a three-days trip with one of my best friends, and we were looking forward to some long, undisturbed and good talks, shopping, great meals and relaxation at a wonderful hotel. I have to say, that besides the long and good talks, the wonderful hotel was the only point that fully satisfied our expectations. But it was obvious that the town is about to grow bigger and more beautiful. They were building all over, and the economic recession was less obvious here than other places in Europe. Also, there is an increasing number of exciting wine bars and restaurants in town. It is a city in motion!
The Sights:
Berlin is a big city. And it absolutely has its wonderful places, but I felt that those places were far apart, and the walks in between were less exciting. What really made an impression on us was the 
Berlin Wall. Or what was left of it. First, we got a bit surprised when no one we asked could tell us directly where it was. It was almost like it had never existed. The guy at the hotel knew it was by one of the train stops, but it took him a while to figure out which one. And the taxi driver had no idea when we asked him to take us to the wall, so we had to give him directions to the same train stop. But, we got there, and we could really feel the ambience and importance of this monument and place. Many of the historical happenings and sites becomes very distance to us, like the Vietnam War and even the second WW, but this was different. I could vividly remember our teacher in German language in high school telling us what had happened the day the wall fell, and how important this even was for the Germans and the rest of us. He claimed we were a part of history to experience it and that we would never forget. And I didn’t.
I can´t claim that the same feeling came to us when we got to the Brandebourger Tor. 
This place was filled with tourists, American chains like Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks, and locals trying to make a few euros while posing for photos with uniforms from the war, gasmasks and waving with the flags from east and west.
We also saw the Siegersäule, Alexanderplatz, Holocaust Memorial, The Berliner Dome, Postdamer Platz, and the Berlin TV Tower. Postdamer Platz and its sky line shows how the city has grown and modernized the last few years, and it is often said to be Berlins new face to the world.
Oh, and the place to see parts of the Berlin Wall is by the Warschauer strasse train station!
Shopping:
First of all, you have to remember that shops are closed on Sundays in Berlin. A bit of a downer when you arrive and are ready to spend some money. But that is how it is, so plan your shopping accordingly. There are several areas in Berlin where you can go shopping, located on different places all over the town. The most famous areas are Friedrichstraße and Kurfûrstendamm. Friedrichstraße is in the part of the city called Mitte, and it is about 3,5 kilometers long and houses some of the most elegant shops in town, and a new and big mall called Galeries Lafayette. I founds some really cool sunglasses here, and they had a great selection of one of my favorite brands, Zadig et Voltaire. Also, the basement of the building houses a lot of good food stands and drinks and is a great place for a break while doing some extensive shopping.
On our walk from the Wall we went by Alexa on Alexanderplatz. Alexa is a big mall, houses over 180 shops with everything from clothes, makeup, electric devices and everything else you may need. It was nice, but a bit difficult to figure out.
On the Postdamer Platz there is a mall called the Arkaden. It has a nice and big Zara shop and a few other good ones, but it is not the best mall in the city.
Our favorite place to shop was the Kurfürstendamm area and the KaDeWe mall. Luckily, it was just a few minutes walk from our hotel. There are shops like Benetton, Zara, Nike, Adidas, Footlocker and H&M on the street, but the best brands are inside the KaDeWe. There was another mall just next to it, called the Peek & Cloppenburg. You could find some good brand here, especially in the basement. Levis, Replay, Vila, Dr. Denim, Cheap Monkey, Diesel, G-star, Pepe Jeans, Tommy Hilfiger and Review were some of them. But KaDeWe still takes the price as the best mall in Berlin, I think. If we start on top, they have a gourmet style buffet to die for…especially after a few hours of intensive shopping. You just pick the things you´d like to eat, and pay by weight. Here you´ll find everything from the prettiest salads to scallops, lobster, beef and awesome juices, and the cake selection is huge and impressive. Just remember not to take too much on your first round. It is worth staying here for a while… The floor below has one of the best selections I have ever seen on everything eatable. I am talking chocolate, seafood, ham, cheese, BBQ sauces, dressings, nuts, bread, beer, sodas, fruit, vegetables and everything else you can imagine. This is the place to go just before takeoff to fill up your suitcases with yummy things to enjoy when you get back home. Impressive.
The KaDeWe has a great selection of international brands, but I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed. That doesn´t mean that YOU will be. It is all about personal taste and preferences. I would love it if they had a greater selection on brands like Current/Elliot, Helmut Lang, Alexander Wang, Acne and Rag & Bone. The brands are there, but the selection is kleine… And the prices are high. Still, we managed to spend a few hours there and ended up with some bags. And happy and full from the awesome buffet from the top floor!
The Hotel:
We stayed at Das Stue in Berlin, and rarely have I been to a hotel where everything is so close to perfect. Read more abut it here.
The Restaurants:
A lot of the restaurants in Berlin are closed on both Sundays and Monday. We wanted to go eat at Dos Palillos and Tim Raue or Sasaya, but they were all closed, so we had to find some good places that were open. We chose the Japanese restaurant named ULA for Sunday night and the Ganymed Brasserie for Monday night. Ula had good and modern Japanese cuisine with awesome sake, and I had the best snails I have ever had at the Brasserie. Read more about them under restaurants and hotels.
