Dill Restaurant, located in the heart of Reykjavik, is one of those “hole in the wall” places that knock you off your feet when it comes to taste and ambience. World Class!
Dill Restaurant is just a small room with a few tables, but it has my kind of style. Minimalistic, rustic, original and authentic. That most of the staff looks like bloodcurdling Vikings, shouldn´t scare you off. Because as soon as you show the same enthusiasm as they do about their organic and biological food and wine, you will become BFFs for ever! 
We went for the full tasting menu offered by head chef Gunnar Karl Gíslason. And we enjoyed every single bite of it! The artic char, the tusk and the kale. The fermented rutabaga, the cod and the wild goose. And definitely the omnom chocolate. This was definitely one of the most well-composed, balanced and tasty meals I have ever had. And unlike many other high-end restaurants, I could eat here every day. If Dill was in my neighborhood, I would definitely stop by the bar frequently for a dish or two, and a glass or two. If I could manage to restrain myself…
What to do when visiting Iceland
Even the wine was great here. Wine enthusiast Ólafur Örn Ólafsson managed to surprise and please throughout the meal. With focus on natural wines, he served great bottles from Domain du Tariquet (Rosé de Pressée), Côteaux Bourguignons (Pinot Beurot), Sur Simcoe beer, and Salmon Brut Champagne from Billecart-Salmon.
It isn´t easy getting a table at Dill Restaurant. Not just because there aren´t many, but because everyone wants to eat there. Understandably!
