At first sight, Trondheim may not be the most exciting city in the world. But take a stroll through the old town, have a drink at Solsiden, stop by some of the shops and book a table at one of these restaurants, and I promise you will warm up to it.
Since we have family in Trondheim, we visit this town at least once a year. I prefer to stay at the Clarion Hotel & Congress, but if you want a more central and cheaper hotel, Comfort Hotel is a good alternative.
I don´t know if it is due to all the extra time off we have when visiting, but we always do some of our most efficient and best shopping in Trondheim. They have several great shops, like Shine, Carma, Natasja, Høyer and two branches of Retro. The beautiful Cornelias Hus is also one of my favorite interior shops in the country.
I have to admit that I miss the iconic restaurants called Fem Bord, but there are still quite a few good places to dine in this town. Credo, To Rom og Kjøkken, NordØst and Frida are all worth a visit.
