Osteria La Salita is a good lunch place. You get a set menu with great value and a fine cellar to choose your wine from. The staff is nice and the location isn´t bad either!

La Salita is located in one of the most beautiful towns in Piedmont, Monforte d´Alba. This is an amazing town situated on a hill with a stunning view and the most wonderful buildings. You can´t visit Piedmont and not stop by Monforte!

I fell in love with the staff at La Salita the first time we visited in 2009. And my hubby fell in love with their wine cellar. The place is run by a couple and a brother, and they do it to perfection. She runs the floor while the boys run the kitchen and the cellar. The cellar was a part of the deal when they bought the place, and it contains a lot of treasures. You are permitted to shop from it, and I tell you, shopping for wine in this cellar after an excellent meal and a bottle of wine may be the worst (or best) idea… All depending on how much money you planned on exchanging for all those lovely bottles. At this time many of the cellars best treasures are sold, but there are still local goodies to find.

La Salita is also the place where I got hooked on Carne Cruda. They serve it with a Parmesan cream and pickled capers. A dish I have copied numerous times at home. Just perfect!

If you are looking for a chilled place to eat good food and drink brilliant wine, whether you do it alone, with friends or children, this is the place to go!
